Just thinking about it….
Get’s me twisted up.
I’ve looked at this photo several times, trying to figure out what that white object was next to the bird. I just realized it’s a dried cattail—of course! since red-winged blackbirds love marshes and swamps where there are tons of bugs to eat.
I don’t see many out here because it’s so dry. It’s too bad, because I miss their metallic chirp in the spring.
I did the same thing — could have saved myself the brain exertion by scrolling down.
The first apt. Mr. LT and I lived in had a small patch of cattails next to it. So we had tons of these guys. KONK-KA-REE!
It would be lovely to hear that sound!! Thanks so much!!!
I had a hard time figuring out what the bird was holding too. He sure doesn’t seem to want to let go of it.
They’re really pretty. I see them once in awhile but didn’t know they had a metallic chirp, probably cause they’re too far away to hear.
Thanks so much!!!
Great photo. Aren’t redwinged blackbirds fantastic? Is this one twisted up about grabbing a cat’s tail?
The photographer got a really beautiful shot.
Hahahahahahahahaha…..he better be letting go of that tail.
Love his little red “cape” – beautiful bird.
He is rather fashionably dressed, and very beautiful!!
He is so cute. I’d love to ruffle the feathers on his little head.
Wouldn’t it be such a pleasure to ruffle those feathers??!!! He really is a cutie.
