and have they returned to nest at the same spot?

  2. jaypo says:

Heeeheeee!! Wee robins! Looky the size of their moufs..*echos*

  3. I like their triangle-shaped mouths. They look like little slices of pizza!

  4. LBeeeze says:

Great question. They built their nest in a flower pot that was sitting on the railing. No flower pots this spring and no robins either.
We originally tried to discourage them from laying eggs (too easy for cats to get to the nest *sorry, Daisy*) by putting a huge egg shapped Spiderman head in the nest, but no go…..the eggs got laid anyway.

  5. LBeeeze says:

They could just about fit their whole heads in their moufs !!!

  6. LBeeeze says:

    Heeheeheeheehee…..Daisy, you think about food a lot !! : )

  7. little miao says:

  8. LBeeeze says:

  10. Waterbaby says:

    Spidey-man couldn't thwart nature's call i guess.

  11. LBeeeze says:

Thanks so much. They were a lot of fun to watch while they were here !!

  12. LBeeeze says:

Spidey didn't slow them down at all….they just built the nest up a little more and covered Spidey up.

  13. Tammie says:

awww!!!! They are absolutely precious!!! How lucky for you that they come back and nest at your home. Great photo!!!

  14. Lucy says:

  15. LBeeeze says:

  16. LBeeeze says:

  18. Carlisa says:

Awww! Lookit the little one wif his mouf opened!!! "Mooooooom, you iz smooshin meeeeeeee!!"
They could just about fit their whole heads in their moufs !!!
…actually, I was thinking they would fit into MY mouf. Thanks to Daisy, I want to put a slice of pepperoni in their moufs first! Yummy!

  19. LBeeeze says:

They might like pepperoni instead of worms….that would be a big surprise.

  20. Carlisa says:

I raised 3 robins from hatchling, What a job!

  21. How cool! *squeak squeak squeak!*

  22. LBeeeze says:

Wow, how did you do that ??!! What did you feed them and did they learn to hunt for worms and bugs on their own ??

  23. LBeeeze says:

Thank you !!! Squeak, squeak, squeak right back atcha !!!

  24. Carlisa says:

I had to do the bug catching, but in between I fed them a mixture of egg and bread. Boids are very smart!!! All I had to do was scratch at the ground and they were all…"UMKAY!" I can't speak for them all, but robins and sparrows are awesome!

  25. LBeeeze says:

No kidding !!! The year before the robins built the nest on our deck some robins built a nest just above our deck… we got to see how robins teach their young how to hunt. Incredible….you were such a good robin mommie !!

  26. You're welcome 😀

  27. Tammie says:

That is so nice, there's a robin's nest out at the nursing home, it is out by the sitting area and goldfish pond, they have babies in their nest now, too. We're just waiting for them to grow and fly, we see the parents fly back and forth.

  28. LBeeeze says:

You can tell that the parents loose weight as they're rushing back and forth feeding all the worms that they can find to the babies.

  29. Tammie says:

Oh..O.K. I hadn't noticed them being thinner, but I'll look at the ones at the nursing home, that would make sense, that they would lose weight flying back and forth, and feeding the worms to their babies.

  30. Carlisa says:

But I would've never had to taken over that job if I knew what I know today. Mommy boids don't neglect or kill their babies just by a human handling them or putting them back in their nests. That's an "old wives tale". That might explain why I got bomb-dived by what was probably the mother PLUS others that got the "distress call" from the babies. I was only around 11-12 y/o at the time, but old enough to question this later. We didn't have PCs back then so we believed everything we heard. (but…even after puter access people believe everything they get emailed—Ha!!!)

  31. Awwwwwww.They're really really noisy….big mouths, always yelling…but adorable!

  32. LBeeeze says:

Isn't that the truth for lots of people !!!

  33. LBeeeze says:

    Thanks so much !!!
